Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Colorado is seeking a Journeyman level HVAC/R technician to lay out, install, maintain and repair HVAC/R equipment including condensers, pumps, air handlers, portable chillers, and related piping. You will perform PMs, troubleshoot with computerized control systems, and ensure safe, compliant operation.

Required EPA Universal certification and a valid driver’s license; the role may require obtaining/maintaining a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Basic Qualifications include Journeyman Level Commercial HVAC/R experience
• EPA Universal certification is required
• Valid Drivers license is required
• Low and medium voltage experience is needed
• Knowledge of Electric/pneumatic/DC/DDC controls and commercial refrigeration systems is required
• Experience with air handlers, condensers, chillers and related HVAC/R equipment is preferred

• Lays out, installs, maintains and repairs heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R) (Cooling and Combination Cooling & Heating Equipment) machinery, auxiliary equipment and piping including such items as: condensers pumps, compressors, air handlers, portable chillers, air flow systems, and related items of refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Make repairs/replace motors in HVAC Equipment. Adjusts and regulates all valves, controls, thermocouples and thermostats to balance the system. Performs periodic maintenance (PM) on HVAC/R equipment.
• Uses computerized control systems to operate, monitor, and troubleshoot HVAC/R

equipment. Maintains proper water treatment of all water cooled condensers.

• Inspects and examines various component parts of the HVAC/R system to diagnose

equipment failures, to detect leaks in piping and associated fittings and to perform emergency repairs. Checks building automated systems and makes adjustments and checks equipment.

• Disassembles, overhauls and rebuilds HVAC/R equipment as required such as air handlers, coils, shafts, bearings, sheaves, belts, valves, springs, and connections to examine and note their condition; installs new piping, packing, couplings, valves, etc. to stop leaks.
• Loads oils and refrigeration mediums into refrigeration systems as necessary. Evacuates

refrigerant from systems as per Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and the Clean Air Act. Insulates refrigerant piping as required.

• Analyzes major HVAC/R equipment breakdowns and determines the best method to correct the malfunctions; performs alignment and operational checks necessary to eliminate all mechanical or electrical failures. Replaces internal mechanical parts as required and makes repairs on HVAC/R equipment and related components, replacing fuses, contactors, relays, electrical safety devices, and printed circuit boards, adjusting and/or replacing control units and thermostats and items of similar complexity.
• Operates “built up type” HVAC/R equipment by performing all major steps necessary to start equipment initially or after a shut down, periodically observing all components of the system in operation and making the critical adjustments for temperatures, pressures, air velocity, etc. Performs routine cleaning, adjustment, or preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure trouble free operation.
• Directs, instructs and/or assists other employees in related work activities. May instruct

and/or demonstrate methods of work to other employees on related work assignments as required in areas of proficiency to safely complete tasks.

• Performs brazing as it pertains to repairs and servicing HVAC/R Equipment.

• Required to obtain/maintain a security clearance as a condition of employment. U.S. Citizenship required.

Pay Information
