Job Summary

The mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of machinery, vehicles, or equipment. Mechanics ensure that all repairs and maintenance tasks are performed efficiently and in compliance with safety regulations and company standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of machinery, vehicles, or equipment to identify issues and determine necessary repairs.
  • Accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, and technical problems using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks, including but not limited to engine repairs, brakes systems, transmission repairs, and electrical system troubleshooting.
  • Replace faulty or worn-out parts and components, ensuring they meet manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and filter replacements, to prevent breakdowns.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts used, and service history for each vehicle or piece of equipment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations while working on machinery, vehicles, or equipment.
  • Conduct post-repair tests and quality control checks to ensure the machinery or vehicles function properly.
  • Communicate with customers, vendors, employees to explain repair needs, estimated costs, and repair timelines.
  • Maintain and clean tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure a safe and organized workspace.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be a member of Local 101 Union or willing to join upon hire.
  • Technical School Training (preferred). Completion of a vocational or technical school program in automotive repair, diesel technology, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Several years of experience as a mechanic or technician, with a proven track record of diagnosing and repairing vehicles or equipment.
  • Strong ability to perform repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting on engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and other vehicle components.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and at heights.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to site-specific protocols.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring manual labor, lifting, and climbing.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly; comfortable working at elevated heights; capable of standing, walking, bending, and climbing for extended periods.
  • Grip, hold, operate objects, tools and/or controls.
  • Ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, and stairs.
Work Environment

Construction sites, industrial facilities, or shipyards. Exposure to varying weather conditions and loud machinery, grease and mechanical hazards.
