Job summary

New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc. in Pennsylvania seeks a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance, diagnose issues with computer software, and repair heavy equipment and trucks under supervision.

You will follow safety policies and maintain tools and shop area. Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, PA forklift certification, 80 hours of manufacturer-specific training, a valid Class C driver's license with Medical Card, and a PA Category 3 State Inspection

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and trucks.
• Must be able to read and understand technical manuals and schematics.
• Experience with diagnostic software is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to follow safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic preventative maintenance by changing oil, checking fluid levels, replacing filters and greasing moving machine parts on heavy equipment and/or trucks.
• Run diagnostic tests using computer software to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
• Follow maintenance checklists, handle hand and power tools safely, and complete work order documentation per department procedure.
• Participate in repairing, rebuilding, or replacing parts like brakes, transmissions, clutches and suspension systems under direct supervision 50% of the time.
• Perform basic welding and torching as needed for repairs.
• Operate equipment after repairs to ensure the issue has been properly resolved.
• Read/comprehend technical manuals and computer schematics.
• Maintain and clean shop area and tools to ensure they are always kept in a safe and useable condition.
• Adhere to company work safety policies.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
• Learn the ins and outs of roadway construction and paving.

Requirements - Who We Are Looking For?

• High School Diploma or GED
• One year of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic is preferred.
• Must possess a current PA Forklift Certification or obtain certification within the 90-day introductory period through NESL's certification program.
• Must have certified completion of 80 hours of third-party manufacturer-specific training related to heavy-duty equipment and/or diesel mechanics.
• Must have minimum of a valid standard Class C driver's license with a Medical Card certification. Must be compliant with NESL Driving Standards.
• Truck Mechanics must have PA Category 3 State Inspection License.
