Job summary

New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc. is seeking a skilled Mechanic to maintain heavy equipment and trucks in our Leesport, PA location and onsite as needed.

You will diagnose emissions, electrical, hydraulic, engine, and transmission issues using OEM software and perform preventive maintenance and welding where required. You will review work orders, train junior technicians, and ensure safety standards are met while supporting operations in a stable, growing materials and aggregate environment

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have PA forklift certification or obtain within 90 days.
• 100 hours of third‑party manufacturer training in heavy equipment/diesel.
• CDL may be required; Class C license with Medical Card required.
• PA Category 3 State Inspection License required for trucks.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance: oil, fluids, grease on heavy equipment/trucks.
• Diagnose emissions, electrical, hydraulic, engine and transmission issues.
• Use OEM diagnostic software to pinpoint engine/hydraulic problems.
• Perform basic welding and torching as needed.
• Operate equipment after repairs to verify fix.
• Complete work orders per department procedures.
• Independently perform mechanics duties at least 80% in the field.
• Read and understand technical manuals and schematics.
• Maintain and clean shop area and tools for safety and usability.
• Train and mentor other mechanics.
• Follow safety policies; may perform other duties as assigned.
• Learn about the Materials & Aggregate Industry in PA.

Job description

Mechanic - What Will You Do?

• Perform basic preventative maintenance by changing oil, checking fluid levels and grease moving machine parts on heavy equipment and/or trucks.
• Assess equipment to accurately diagnose complex mechanical issues including emissions, electrical, hydraulic, engine and transmission issues.
• Ability to proficiently use most OEM computer diagnostic software and testing tools to find engine or hydraulic problems.
• Perform basic welding and torching as needed to perform repairs.
• Operate equipment after repairs to ensure the issue has been properly resolved.
• Review and complete work order documentation per department procedure.
• Perform mechanic duties independently at least 80% of the time. This includes completing repairs in the field without supervision.
• Read/comprehend technical manuals and computer schematics.
• Maintain and clean shop area and tools to ensure they are always kept in a safe and useable condition.
• Train and mentor other mechanics.
• Adhere to company work safety policies.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements - Who We Are Looking For?

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must possess a current PA Forklift Certification or obtain certification within the 90-day introductory period through NESL’s certification program.
• Must have certified completion of 100 hours of third-party manufacturer-specific training related to heavy-duty equipment and/or diesel mechanics.
• Site-Specific CDL may be required as determined by the Area Shop Manager.
• Must have at a minimum a valid standard Class C driver’s license with a Medical Card certification. Must be compliant with NESL Driving Standards.
• Truck Mechanics must have PA Category 3 State Inspection License.
