Job summary

Southern Tire Mart in Tulsa, OK is seeking a diesel mechanic to diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers. You will work on brakes, HVAC, drivetrains, electrical systems, and perform PM inspections, roadside service, and tire-related tasks.

The role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to lift heavy loads, and a valid driver’s license. We offer competitive hourly pay based on experience, 401(k) with company match, health/dental/vision/life insurance, paid

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior diesel mechanic/fleet technician/heavy truck experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and problem-solving ability.
• Must be able to lift/move tires and equipment up to 250 lbs.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Willingness to work flexible hours incl. evenings/weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair brakes, HVAC, drivetrains, and electrical systems on semi-trucks and trailers.
• Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections and scheduled maintenance.
• Operate diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues.
• Conduct fleet inspections and maintain detailed service records.
• Perform tire mounting, balancing and related TPMS tasks.
• Respond to roadside service calls with company service truck.
• Assist with parts inventory and shop organization.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Job description

Diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers, including:

• Brakes
• HVAC systems
• Drivetrains
• Electrical systems
• Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections
• Conduct fleet inspections and perform scheduled maintenance.
• Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot issues accurately.
• Perform tire-related services as needed (mounting, balancing, repairing).
• Use and maintain Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS).
• Maintain detailed records of work performed.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines, company policies, and DOT regulations.
• Respond to roadside service calls using a company service truck (F-350), when required.
• Assist with parts inventory and shop organization.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (trade school certification a plus).

Prior experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet technician, or heavy truck mechanic preferred.

Strong mechanical knowledge and problem-solving ability.

Must be able to lift/move tires and equipment (30–250 lbs., with or without mechanical aids).

Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Willingness to work in varying conditions (weather, noise, physical demands).

• Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
