Job summary

Southern Tire Mart is seeking a diesel mechanic to diagnose and repair brakes, HVAC, drivetrains, and electrical systems on semi-trucks and trailers. You will perform PM inspections, fleet checks, and servicing, including tire work and TPMS tasks.

You will operate diagnostic tools, maintain detailed records, and respond to roadside service calls with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed. A valid license and physical ability to lift heavy tires are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school certification is a plus.
• Prior experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy truck mechanic preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and problem-solving ability.
• Must be able to lift/move tires and equipment (30–250 lbs).
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to work in varying conditions and flexible hours, overtime possible.

Responsibilities

Job description

Diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers, including:

Brakes

HVAC systems

Drivetrains

Electrical systems

Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections

Conduct fleet inspections and perform scheduled maintenance.

Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot issues accurately.

Perform tire-related services as needed (mounting, balancing, repairing).

Use and maintain Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS).

Maintain detailed records of work performed.

Adhere to all safety guidelines, company policies, and DOT regulations.

Respond to roadside service calls using a company service truck when required.

Assist with parts inventory and shop organization.

Complete other duties as assigned.
