Job summary

Southern Tire Mart is seeking a skilled diesel mechanic to diagnose and repair brakes, HVAC, drivetrains, electrical systems, and perform preventive maintenance on semi-trucks and trailers. You will inspect fleets, operate diagnostic tools, and handle tire services with attention to safety and DOT rules.

The role requires lifting heavy tires, flexible hours including evenings and weekends, and potential roadside service calls.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school certification is a plus.
• Prior experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet technician, or heavy truck mechanic is preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and problem-solving ability.
• Must be able to lift/move tires and equipment (30–250 lbs.) with or without aids.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to work in varying conditions (weather, noise, physical demands).
• Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair brakes, HVAC, drivetrains, electrical systems and PM inspections.
• Perform fleet inspections and scheduled maintenance.
• Operate diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues accurately.
• Perform tire-related services (mounting, balancing, repair) and TPMS maintenance.
• Maintain detailed records of work performed and adhere to safety and DOT regulations.
• Respond to roadside service calls with company truck when required.
• Assist with parts inventory and shop organization.

Job description

Diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers, including:

• Brakes
• HVAC systems
• Drivetrains
• Electrical systems
• Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections
• Conduct fleet inspections and perform scheduled maintenance.
• Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot issues accurately.
• Perform tire-related services as needed (mounting, balancing, repairing).
• Use and maintain Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS).
• Maintain detailed records of work performed.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines, company policies, and DOT regulations.
• Respond to roadside service calls using a company service truck when required.
• Assist with parts inventory and shop organization.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
