Job summary

GFL Industries in Sparta, WI is seeking a heavy‑duty diesel truck mechanic to operate, repair, and maintain company‑owned or leased equipment, ensuring safe operation and reliability.

Starting pay is $25-$30 per hour with overtime after 40 hours. Shift starts at 12pm and typically runs 8–10 hours, Monday through Friday. Benefits include PTO, tool allowance, boot reimbursement, health coverage after 60 days, and 401K after 6 months.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining heavy‑duty diesel trucks.
• Ability to diagnose and repair diesel refuse trucks.
• Familiarity with hydraulic and electrical systems on heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections and diagnose issues on Diesel Refuse Trucks.
• Repair hydraulic, electrical, brakes, suspension, PTO systems and other components.
• Diagnose mechanical issues to keep trucks operating safely and reliably.
• Perform preventative maintenance and ensure fleet readiness for daily operation.

Job description

Safely operate, repair, rebuild and perform maintenance on Company owned or leased heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment including rolling stock to ensure its ability to operate safely

Starting Pay: $25-$30/hr More pay available based on experience, certifications and skill level.

Shift: 12pm start time. Expect 8-10hr shifts. M-F. OT after 40hrs

Responsibilities:

• Perform daily inspections, diagnose issues, troubleshoot problems, and complete repairs on Diesel Refuse Trucks.


• Repair and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, PTO systems, and other truck components.


• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues to keep Refuse Trucks operating safely and reliably.


• Perform preventative maintenance and complete repairs to ensure fleet vehicles are ready for daily operation.
