Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Phenix City, AL is seeking a skilled Diesel Truck Mechanic to safely operate, repair, rebuild, and maintain our heavy-duty fleet.

Starting pay is $25-$30 per hour with overtime after 40 hours and additional pay for experience and certifications. The role offers a day shift of 11am-7pm, with benefits including PTO, tool and boot allowances, and health coverage after probation.

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy‑duty diesel trucks.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, and suspensions.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance and repairs to keep fleet running.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections, diagnose issues, troubleshoot problems, and repair diesel refuse trucks.
• Repair hydraulic, electrical, brake, suspension, PTO systems and other truck components.
• Diagnose mechanical issues to keep refuse trucks operating safely and reliably.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs to ensure fleet vehicles are ready for daily operation.

Safely operate, repair, rebuild and perform maintenance on Company owned or leased heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment including rolling stock to ensure its ability to operate safely

Starting Pay: $25-$30/hr

More pay available based on experience, certifications and skill level.

Starting Shift: 11am-7pm M-F. Overtime after 40hrs worked.
