Job summary

SA Recycling in Los Angeles seeks an experienced diesel mechanic with hydraulic system expertise to service heavy scrap-yard equipment. You will troubleshoot, repair engines, cooling and braking systems, and work on hydraulic components while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must pass preemployment physical and drug screen.
• Must pass background check.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively and perform basic math.
• DOT maintenance or Diesel mechanic certification preferred.
• Previous hydraulic repair experience.
• Diesel engine experience required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot problems with machinery.
• Repair engines, cooling systems, drivetrain parts, brakes, and basic electrical parts.
• Work on hydraulic system components and tool attachments.
• Remove/repair body parts and engine covers as needed.
• Perform limited torch cutting and welding.
• Drive mechanic truck to yards within region.
• Maintain clean and safe work area.
• Inspect equipment safety and operate with safety in mind.
• Attend work regularly and punctually.
• Organize materials to maximize space efficiency.
• Dispose of waste materials properly.
• Ensure cleanup is completed and workspace is hygienic.

Job description

The Mechanic must have diesel engine and hydraulic system experience.

Job Duties

Including, but not limited to:

• Trouble shoot problems with machinery
• Repair engines, engine-cooling systems, drivetrain parts, brake systems, and basic electrical parts
• Remove and replace parts of hydraulic systems and tool attachments (shears, forks, grapples)
• Remove and repair some body parts, ladders, platforms, catwalks, and engine covers
• Perform limited torch cutting and welding
• Drive company mechanic truck to various yards in a given region
• Clean up work area at the end of shift
• Inspect the safety of the equipment
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions
• Organizing materials to have more effective use of space
• Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner
• Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed
• Effective housekeeping in workplace area is an ongoing operation for safety and more hygienic conditions for all team members.

Qualifications

• Must pass a preemployment physical and drug Screen
• Must pass a background check
• Preferred – high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus
• Ability to: communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) basic math skills as the job demands
• Diesel Mechanic school DOT maintenance or certification preferred
• Previous experience with hydraulic repairs
• must have diesel engine experience.
