Job summary

TMS International is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our on-site team in Jewett, Texas. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, perform electrical and hydraulic work, and ensure safe operations in an industrial setting.

The role requires experience with heavy machinery, welding, fabrication, and adherence to safety protocols. This is a full-time, on-site position with benefits and opportunities for hands-on career growth.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Valid heavy equipment operator certification is preferred.
  • Must have own complete tools.
  • Experience operating front-end loaders; steel mill and heavy equipment experience preferred.
  • Strong safety knowledge and adherence to regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform 250–2000 hour services on equipment and track fluids and filter inventory.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems (12V, 24V, 120/240V).
  • Perform welding (MIG/STICK) and fabrication tasks.
  • Interpret parts/service manuals and work outdoors in various conditions.
  • Repair hydraulic systems, valves, cylinders, belts, and bearings.
  • Work with MR plant components, rollers, gears, and shakers.
  • Ensure safe work practices with lockout/tagout procedures and cribbing when needed.

Position Overview

This position will be located on site in Jewett, TX.

Responsibilities
  • Strong electrical knowledge/diagnosing skills in 12V,24V and some 120/240V applications.
  • Welding knowledge mig/stick
  • Fabrication knowledge, torch/plasma/ air arc/grinders/chop saws etc.
  • Interpreting parts and service books / Works in the elements
  • Strong knowledge on hydraulic repairs/diagnosing/valves/changing cylinders/ replacing pins and bearings
  • Knowledge on MR plant, rollers/bearings/gearboxes/shakers/changing belts
  • Preform 250-2000hr services on equipment along with keeping track of fluids and filter inventory.
  • Knowledge with tracks/drive motors/planetaries
  • Preform work safely with lock out and tag out procedures on all equipment.
  • Experience on jacking and supporting large equipment with cribbing while preforming repairs.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid heavy equipment operator certification.
  • Must have own complete tools
  • Proven experience operating front-end loaders; experience in a steel mill and in heavy equipment is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards and regulations in heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
