Job summary

Coach USA, Dillon’s Bus Lines, LLC, Hanover, MD, is hiring full-time Diesel Mechanics to support maintenance operations under the Maintenance Manager. Two shifts (2nd or 3rd) are available; compensation ranges from $59,000 for Mechanic C to $65,000–$85,000 for Mechanic A/B, depending on experience.

You will diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on diesel buses and motor coaches, with opportunities for growth within one of North America's largest privately held transportation

Qualifications

• Formal technical training degree, certificate or diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, walk and sit with lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Certification
• Experience with a toolbox and independent maintenance work in heavy equipment or diesel vehicles.
• CDL preferred
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Diagnose and repair using diagnostic tools; perform preventative maintenance.
• Team-oriented, capable of weekend/holiday work.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on diesel buses and motor coaches.
• Perform preventative maintenance and test drives to ensure vehicle reliability and safety.
• Maintain electronic maintenance logs and detailed inspection reports.

Required Experience

1. Class A: Master Mechanic with 5 years’ experience on trucks, buses, or heavy equipment
2. Class B: Mid-Level with 3 years’ experience on trucks, buses, or heavy equipment
3. Class C: Low Level with at least 1 year of experience on trucks, buses, or heavy equipment

Minimum Requirements

1. Formal technical training degree, certificate or diploma or equivalent work experience.
2. Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, walk and sit on a regular basis with frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
3. Certification
4. Experience Counts: Have the necessary toolkit to carry out maintenance duties independently. Experience in the Motor Coach Industry or Diesel experience preferred.
5. CDL preferred
6. Effective written and oral communication skills.
7. Diagnose and Repair: Utilize diagnostic tools to identify issues with mechanical, electrical, and other breakdowns and failures, performing necessary repairs.
8. Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine and preventative maintenance according to manufacturers' specifications to ensure vehicle reliability and longevity.
9. Quality Assurance: Uphold our commitment to excellence by ensuring all repairs and maintenance work meets or exceeds industry standards. Complete test drives to make sure all repaired vehicles run correctly and safely.
10. Detail Oriented: Write detailed inspection reports and repair plans. Maintain electronic maintenance logs.
11. Safety and Cleanliness: Adhere to all workplace safety policies and procedures, while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
12. Problem Solvers: You are adept at troubleshooting and enjoy the challenge of finding and implementing solutions to mechanical issues. Computer diagnostic skills a plus, but training is provided.
13. Team Players: Ability to work in all weather conditions, including outdoors. Willingness to work weekends and holidays, as needed.
