Build your career at US Aggregates!The Heavy Equipment Technician/Mechanic is responsible supporting our aggregate plants with the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of heavy machinery and equipment. This includes, but not limited to Front-End Loaders, Haul Trucks, Excavators, Crushers, and Conveyors. You will perform routine inspections, diagnose mechanical issues, and ensure all equipment operates efficiently and safely.Essential FunctionsMaintains knowledge to diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment and light equipment as requiredPerforms repair or preventative maintenance on diesel and gasoline vehicles, including haul trucks, excavators, wheel loaders, and other vehicles to maximize safe and productive operations. Typical repairs and maintenance would include work on engines, transmissions, chassis, drivelines and body components, hydraulic, brake, electrical/electronic and suspension systems, wheels, tires, and undercarriagesReads and interprets equipment condition reports and/or repair orders, communicate with supervisor and/or operator for clarification of defects and discuss preventative techniques with operators to minimize future repairsEnsure the proper safety incident procedures and reporting processes are followed, bringing safety concerns to the attention of the Plant ManagerCommunicate with management and staff on conditions of equipment, as well as any possible improvements or ideasPerform needed hot work, including welding and cuttingPerform other duties as assignedAdditional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills.Education QualificationsRequired High School or EquivalentExperience QualificationsRequired 3+ years experience in heavy construction, quarry, road construction equipment industry or a related fieldPreferred Euclid and Mack experiencePreferred welding and/or fabrication skills and/or experiencePreferred proficient with a computer, including the use of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and diagnostic use, using manufacturer provided programsSkills and AbilitiesMust maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performanceFollow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on scheduleStrong communication skills and basic understanding of mathWorking knowledge of US Aggregates Safety and Operating principlesComplete all applicable documentation, recordkeeping, and daily inventoryParticipate in safety briefings, job briefings, and any other pass on information from team members, management, or customerMust be able to work with a team, take direction and follow work rules, as well as take on additional job responsibilities as needed or assignedFlexibility required; ability to work days, nights, weekendsPerform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirementsMust possess and exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently to get things doneStrong welding, torching, and maintenance skills preferredLicenses and Certifications2-year technical degree or comparable military training PreferredValid driver's license and clean driving record RequiredWorking Conditions/Physical DemandsMust have the ability to continuously stand or walk on level or uneven groundMust have the ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairways and incline catwalksMust have the ability to bend, crouch and/or kneel at the waist or kneesMust have the ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50lbsAbility to work outside the majority of the time and withstand extreme weather conditions.
