Job summary

US Aggregates, Inc. is seeking an Equipment Operator/Laborer to support production, maintenance, quality and safety across our aggregates operations.

You will operate heavy equipment such as front-end loaders and haul trucks, perform upkeep, and maintain records to ensure safe and efficient plant performance. The role requires strong safety awareness, ability to work in teams, and flexibility to cover day, night or weekend shifts.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED required.
  • Must be able to operate and maintain heavy equipment.
  • Able to read and write in English and perform basic math.
  • Must follow safety rules and complete required trainings.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment to support production and safety.
  • Perform routine servicing, fueling, lubrication and inspections of machinery.
  • Complete shift reports and maintain accurate logs and inventories.
  • Follow all safety policies, rules and PPE requirements.
  • Support quality and process improvements as directed.

Job description

As an Equipment Operator/Laborer, you will have responsibility for maintaining production, maintenance, quality, and safety within the aggregates operations function, including but not limited to, operating heavy equipment, such as Front-End Loaders, Haul Trucks, Skid Steers, etc.

Essential Functions
  • Operate, service, and maintain various heavy equipment including front-end loaders, off road dump trucks, skid steer, man-lift, fuel truck and water truck in order to keep plant clean and in production
  • Responsible for fueling, oiling, greasing equipment as well as understanding the equipment's safety manual
  • Perform pre-shift and end of shift checks and maintenance on equipment
  • Report orally and in writing to as required and maintain accurate records (i.e. activity reports, inventory reports, maintenance logs, etc.) as directed
  • Participate in general training, job specific training and hazardous materials training as required; successfully complete written examinations as required
  • Understand and follow all policies, procedures, and safety rules as applicable to facility, job function and equipment, including rules governing safety around railroad tracks and equipment
  • Keep facilities and equipment clean and maintained
  • Recommend changes to the operation which may produce safer work processes, savings and efficiencies
  • Abiding by yard rules, safety regulations and PPE requirements
  • Accurately completing all required paperwork
  • Abide by terminals processes and procedures relating to product transfers, quality assurance, safety, and operations
  • Complete required training and certifications necessary to perform duties safely and effectively
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills.
Education Qualifications Required
  • High School or Equivalent
Skills and Abilities
  • Must maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance
  • Follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule
  • Read, write, and communicate in English & understand basic math
  • Working knowledge of US Aggregates Safety and Operating principles
  • Complete all applicable documentation, recordkeeping, and daily inventory
  • Participate in safety briefings, job briefings, and any other pass on information from team members, management, or customer
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction and follow work rules, as well as take on additional job responsibilities as needed or assigned
  • Flexibility required; ability to work days, nights, weekends
  • Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Must possess and exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently to get things done
  • Strong welding, torching, and maintenance skills preferred
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
  • Must have the ability to continuously stand or walk on level or uneven ground
  • Must have the ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairways and incline catwalks
  • Must have the ability to bend, crouch and/or kneel at the waist or knees
  • Must have the ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work outside the majority of the time and withstand extreme weather conditions.
  • Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather
