Job summary

SA Recycling LLC is seeking a diesel mechanic with hydraulic system experience in Augusta, GA. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairing engines, cooling systems, drivetrains, brakes and electrical components, plus hydraulic work and tool attachments.

The role requires safety adherence and frequent travel to yards across the region. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, and preferably DOT maintenance certification.

Qualifications

• Must pass preemployment physical and drug screen.
• Must pass background check.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
• Diesel engine/hydraulic repair experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot machinery problems and repair engines, cooling systems, drivetrain, brakes, and basic electrical parts.
• Remove/replace hydraulic components and tool attachments (shears, forks, grapples).
• Perform limited torch cutting and welding.
• Drive mechanic truck to various yards in the region.
• Maintain safety and housekeeping, inspect equipment, and ensure compliance.

The Mechanic must have diesel engine and hydraulic system experience.

Job Duties

Including, but not limited to:

• Trouble shoot problems with machinery
• Repair engines, engine-cooling systems, drivetrain parts, brake systems, and basic electrical parts
• Remove and replace parts of hydraulic systems and tool attachments (shears, forks, grapples)
• Remove and repair some body parts, ladders, platforms, catwalks, and engine covers
• Perform limited torch cutting and welding
• Drive company mechanic truck to various yards in a given region
• Clean up work area at the end of shift
• Inspect the safety of the equipment
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions
• Organizing materials to have more effective use of space
• Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner
• Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed
• Effective housekeeping in workplace area is an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members.

Qualifications

• Must pass a preemployment physical and drug Screen
• Must pass a background check
• Preferred – high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus
• Ability to: communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) basic math skills as the job demands
• Diesel Mechanic school DOT maintenance or certification preferred
• Previous experience with hydraulic repairs
• must have diesel engine experience.
