Job summary

SA Recycling is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic in Augusta, GA to diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and related components across yard equipment. You will service engines, cooling systems, brakes, and electrical parts, and perform welding when required.

Candidates should have diesel engine experience, hydraulic repair background, and be able to pass preemployment screening and background checks. Bilingual skills are a plus for a diverse workforce.

Qualifications

• Must pass preemployment physical and drug screen.
• Must pass background check.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively; basic math skills.
• Diesel Mechanic school or DOT certification preferred.
• Previous hydraulic repairs experience.
• Must have diesel engine experience.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot problems with machinery and repair engines, cooling systems, drivetrain parts, brakes, and basic electrical components.
• Remove and replace parts of hydraulic systems and attachments (shears, forks, grapples).
• Inspect and repair body parts, ladders, platforms, and engine covers; perform limited torch cutting and welding.

Job description

The Mechanic must have diesel engine and hydraulic system experience.

Job Duties

• Trouble shoot problems with machinery
• Repair engines, engine-cooling systems, drivetrain parts, brake systems, and basic electrical parts
• Remove and replace parts of hydraulic systems and tool attachments (shears, forks, grapples)
• Remove and repair some body parts, ladders, platforms, catwalks, and engine covers
• Perform limited torch cutting and welding
• Drive company mechanic truck to various yards in a given region
• Clean up work area at the end of shift
• Inspect the safety of the equipment
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions
• Organizing materials to have more effective use of space
• Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner
• Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed
• Effective housekeeping in workplace area is an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members.

Qualifications

• Must pass a preemployment physical and drug Screen
• Must pass a background check
• Preferred – high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus
• Ability to: communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) basic math skills as the job demands
• Diesel Mechanic school DOT maintenance or certification preferred
• Previous experience with hydraulic repairs
• must have diesel engine experience.
