Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for the Mission Critical/Data Center team in Herndon, VA for Summer 2027. The role targets students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Mechanical Engineering program with an August 2027+ graduation date.

The internship runs 12 weeks with a May 17th, 2027 start date and involves hands-on design tasks, project research, field work, and documentation. A strong safety mindset and travel willingness are required.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in Mechanical Engineering undergraduate, master’s or PhD with graduation Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older and authorized to work in the United States.
• Strong communication and writing skills for engineering/delivery.
• Able to take direction from mentors and leaders to execute projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office tools, spreadsheets, and related software.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering tasks for mission critical/data center projects.
• Assist with design calculations, field work, and preliminary analyses.
• Help prepare final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
• Collect and maintain project documentation and records.
• Complete assigned training and adhere to company policies.
