Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Columbia, MD. You will work full-time in the Property & Buildings team, gaining hands-on project exposure and mentorship while enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.

The 12-week program starts May 17, 2027, with flexible start dates. No relocation housing is offered; join a structured internship focused on design, research and documentation preparation.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in Mechanical Engineering or related program with graduation Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older and authorized to work in the United States.
• Demonstrated interest in Mechanical Engineering and developing skills for WSP projects.
• Capable of taking direction from mentors and communicating with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Mechanical Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
• Support preparation of final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and safety policies.
