Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in our Richmond, VA office. This full-time internship is for undergraduate or graduate students and forms part of the WSP Summer Internship Program.

The role focuses on learning basic mechanical engineering principles, supporting various tasks, and contributing to project research, field work, and design calculations. Start date around May 17, 2027, with a 12-week program and no relocation housing provided.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering or related Undergraduate program with anticipated graduation Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Interest in Mechanical Engineering or related field and desire to advance skills relevant to WSP.
• Basic writing, office tools, and technical communication skills.
• Authorized to work in the United States at internship start.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Mechanical Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP Code of Conduct and policies.
