Job summary

Kroger Co. is seeking a Meat Department team member to prepare and display meat products, assist customers, and maintain a clean, organized department. You will ensure freshness, proper rotation, and safe handling of equipment while delivering friendly service.

The role emphasizes strong customer interaction, adherence to safety and sanitation standards, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment. Weekend availability is often required.

Qualifications

• Willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Able to read shelf tags, signs, and product labels, etc.
• Qualified and able to operate power and various job tools (automatic wrapper, slicer, grinder, power saw, and jack, etc.)
• Must work safely with various chemically based cleaning solutions.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fastpaced environment and willingness to help all members of the department
• Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers

Responsibilities

• Prepare and display merchandise in a neat, efficient, orderly manner.
• Check product quality; ensure freshness and proper rotation.
• Keep sales areas, backrooms, coolers clean and organized.
• Maintain carts, tools, and supplies in designated areas; floors clean and safe.
• Manage display cases to maintain inventory levels and freshness; unload trucks and prepare merchandise.
• Provide good customer and associate relations.
• Wash and sanitize equipment per company and Health Dept. policies.
• Make a clean, neat, and friendly impression on customers.
• Communicate effectively with customers and fellow associates.
• Wait on customers promptly; greet and help them find products.
• Follow all applicable rules and duties of Meat, Company, and laws.
• Keep work area and equipment clean and orderly; stay prompt and professional.
• Adhere to dress code, grooming, food safety, sanitation, and harassment/discrimination policies.
• Maintain equipment and facilities safely per policies.
• Perform any duties as assigned.
