Job summary

The Kroger Co. is seeking a Meat Department associate to prepare and display meat items, greet customers, and maintain clean, organized work areas. You will ensure product quality, rotate stock, and unload trucks for restocking in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will provide friendly customer service, follow health and safety policies, and support associates while adhering to company standards and state regulations. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Able to read shelf tags, signs, and product labels.
• Qualified and able to operate power and various job tools (automatic wrapper, slicer, grinder, power saw, and jack).
• Must work safely with various chemically based cleaning solutions.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and willingness to help all members of the department.
• Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers.
• Meat work experience or similar experience in food preparation.
• Past work record reflects dependability and integrity.
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, OSHA compliance, food handling, etc.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and display meat items for sale in accordance with company standards.
• Wait on customers and provide customer services.
• Check product quality; ensure fresh and rotated merchandise.
• Keep sales areas, backrooms, coolers clean and well organized.
• Unload trucks, sort, and prepare merchandise for sale.
• Provide good customer and associate relations.
• Wash and sanitize equipment in accordance with company and Health Dept. policies and procedures.
• Make clean, neat, and friendly impression on customers.
• Greet customers and assist them in finding products.
• Follow all current rules and duties of the Meat, Company, and State and Federal laws.
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• Adhere to company policies & procedures, particularly dress code, grooming, food safety, sanitation, and maintenance of a work environment free of harassment or discrimination.
• Maintain equipment and facilities properly and safely in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Perform any and all duties as assigned.
