Job summary

Hannaford is seeking a Meat Department Lead in South Portland, ME to oversee operations, coach staff, and ensure food safety and proper merchandising. The role requires strong leadership, teamwork, and customer service skills to maintain high standards in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will work closely with the store manager, manage scheduling, budgeting, and product knowledge, and ensure the department meets sanitation and policy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Observe and follow all company policies and standard practices.
• In the absence of the department manager, manage department operations.
• Maintain neat, groomed appearance and comply with appearance policy.
• Recognize and coach associates delivering great service.
• Use company tools such as financial reports, scheduling, and information systems.
• Maintain communication with store manager and organization.
• Maintain merchandising techniques and layouts per standards.
• Ensure department pricing and coding policy compliance.
• Support safety standards and report needed repairs and maintenance.
• Develop product knowledge in meat department and training of associates.
• Ensure sanitation and food safety standards are met.
• Oversee cutting room, cooler organization, inventory and rotation.
• Direct workflow of meat cutters and clerks.
