Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Keeps meat department cases well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Smiles and greets customers, makes suggestions, answers questions about various cuts and preparation of products. Takes orders for future delivery and helps fill special requests. Helps resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously.
2. Sets up displays and rotates product as needed. Ensures that meat is fresh, in saleable condition with proper prices and signage. Handles spoiled, damaged, or near-expiration products according to company procedures. Removes non-saleable product to ensure quality.
3. May grind and cut certain meats and poultry.
4. Weighs and wraps merchandise at customer request; applies stickers showing correct price and weight. Maintains logs to track freshness and quality. Adheres to all food and safety codes when handling products or using kitchen tools. Responsible for sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and department guidelines to meet health and OSHA requirements. Properly disposes of trash and empties bone cans.
5. Assists in minimizing shrink and controlling damages. Reports shortages or overages to the manager.
6. May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries using a power jack or hand jack if trained. Training provided.
7. May assist with baling cardboard or related duties if trained. Training provided.
8. Ensures smooth department and store operations by cooperating with co-workers and superiors. Continuously seeks to improve job performance.
9. Uses all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
10. May be called upon to assist in other departments.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
