Job summary

J H Routh Packing Company in Sandusky, OH is seeking a Maintenance 4 Mechanic C for 1st shift to service mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems in a meat processing facility. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and support production reliability.

Responsibilities include diagnosing faults, repairing or replacing parts, documenting work orders, and ensuring adherence to OSHA/USDA safety standards while collaborating with production and sanitation teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical training or maintenance certification preferred.
• Experience in industrial maintenance preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
• Basic welding and fabrication skills preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on conveyors, material handling systems, overhead chain systems, and processing equipment.
• Maintain electrical systems and controls, boilers and related utilities as qualified, and engine room equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical malfunctions; replace defective parts.
• Perform equipment adjustments and calibrations; document repairs and parts usage.
• Identify root causes of failures and respond to downtime events promptly.
• Follow safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout, and maintain OSHA/USDA compliance.
• Maintain tools and maintenance areas; assist with installations and upgrades.
• Collaborate with production and sanitation teams; communicate equipment issues to supervisors.
