Job summary

Kj’s Market in Camden, SC is seeking a Meat Department Supervisor to lead daily meat operations and deliver excellent guest service. You will manage scheduling, training, and inventory while upholding sanitation and company standards.

Responsibilities include overseeing pricing, records, and coordination with the Store Manager to meet objectives, with emphasis on teamwork and safe food handling. Prior experience preferred; strong communication essential.

Qualifications

• High school education plus 1–3 years meat or supermarket experience.
• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle weight requirements.
• Ability to read and understand information and directions.
• Knowledge of meat operations and inventory basics.
• Ability to supervise people, including training and development.
• Strong communication, guest service, and selling skills.
• Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Follow weekly sales programs to maximize sales volume.
• Meet budgeted gross profit figures set by Meat Merchandising.
• Prepare and maintain meat records across departments.
• Follow policies for weighing, pricing, packaging, and merchandising.
• Unload trucks and maintain backroom storage.
• Maintain coolers and freezers to standard.
• Be accountable for inventory control.
• Reinforce sanitation, safety, and company guidelines.
• Assist guests and maintain positive customer relations.
• Consult with Store Manager on meat operations, planning, and scheduling.
• Schedule the department and ensure compliance with standards.
• Train staff and develop talent within the department.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Responsibilities

• 1. Follow weekly company sales program to attain maximum sales volume.
• 2. Achieve budgeted gross profit figures as established by Meat Merchandising Department.
• 3. Carry out the preparation of all meat records as required by the Accounting & Merchandising Departments.
• 4. Follow all company policies related to weighing, pricing, packaging, and displaying of merchandise.
• 5. Unload trucks and maintain backroom storage.
• 6. Maintains coolers and freezers to standard.
• 7. Accountable for inventory control.
• 8. Reinforce sanitation, safe food handling practices, security, safety, and company guidelines.
• 9. Assist guests and maintain good customer relations.
• 10. Consult with Store Manager to review meat operations, and advanced planning and scheduling, to ensure company objectives are met.
• 11. Responsible for scheduling of the department.
• 12. Ensures the department is run in compliance with company standards (as measured by ALI audits).
• 13. Ensures direct reports understand expectations for performance, holds them accountable to achieve productivity goals and meets with them to review performance and provide feedback (ongoing and annual performance appraisal).
• 14. Personally responsible for teaching and training departmental staff. Additionally, builds a talent planning bench for the department, including developing and executing development plans for all high-potential and promotable individuals.
• 15. All other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• 1. The skill and knowledge generally associated with a high school education and 1-3 years meat or supermarket experience.
• 2. Must be 18 years old.
• 3. Ability to lift 50lbs, occasionally and 25lbs. constantly.
• 4. Ability to read and understand information and direction.
• 5. Knowledge of meat operations.
• 6. Ability to supervise people, including training and development.
• 7. Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements on the job.
• 8. Effective communication, guest service, and selling skills.
• 9. Ability to bend, kneel, stand, push/pull stock carts for extended periods of time.
