Job summary

The Kroger Co. in Anchorage is seeking a Meat Department Associate to prepare and display meat items, assist customers, and uphold safety and quality standards.

You will work in a fast-paced retail environment, wrapping and labeling, stocking displays, and maintaining a clean, organized department while delivering friendly service. Responsibilities include ensuring freshness, proper rotation, driving customer satisfaction, and adherence to health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Able to read shelf tags, signs, and product labels, etc.
• Qualified and able to operate power and various job tools (automatic wrapper, slicer, grinder, power saw, and jack, etc.)
• Must work safely with various chemically based cleaning solutions.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and willingness to help all members of the department
• Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers.
• Meat work experience or similar experience in food preparation.
• Past work record reflects dependability and integrity.
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, OSHA compliance, food handling.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and display merchandise in a neat, efficient, orderly manner.
• Check product quality; ensure freshness, safety, and proper rotation.
• Keep sales areas, backrooms, coolers clean and organized.
• Keep carts, tools, and supplies in designated areas; floors clean and clutter-free.
• Assist with unloading trucks and preparing merchandise for sale.
• Provide good customer and associate relations.
• Wash and sanitize equipment per policies.
• Greet customers and help them find products.
• Adhere to dress code, safety, sanitation, and discrimination policies.
• Maintain equipment and facilities per company procedures.
• Perform any duties as assigned.
