Job summary

Albertsons Companies is seeking an Assistant Meat Manager to lead day-to-day operations in our meat department, drive product quality, and ensure exceptional customer service. You will work closely with the Meat Manager to plan production, manage inventory, and develop the team to meet sales and safety standards.

Ideal candidates have prior meat department or retail supervisory experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and a solid understanding of food safety practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous meat department, retail grocery, food service, or supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of meat cutting, merchandising, and food safety practices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the daily operations of the meat department.
• Support production planning, cutting, packaging, and merchandising activities.
• Ensure adequate inventory levels through proper ordering, receiving, and stock rotation practices.
• Monitor product quality, freshness, and presentation standards.
• Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and compliance with company standards.
• Assist with hiring, training, coaching, and developing department associates.
• Support labor scheduling to meet operational and customer service needs.
• Promote a culture of teamwork, engagement, and accountability.
• Provide leadership and direction in the absence of the Meat Manager.
• Reinforce company policies, standards, and performance expectations.
• Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health, and workplace safety regulations.
