Job summary

Whole Foods Market in New York is seeking a Meat Cutter to handle cutting, preparation, display, and selling of beef, pork, lamb, veal, and poultry. You will ensure product quality and provide courteous, friendly service to customers and Team Members.

This role requires 14+ months of retail meat experience, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• 14+ months of retail meat experience.
• Completed WFM Butcher Apprentice Program or equivalent.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Cuts, platters, and merchandises products (beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry).
• Prepares specialty meat merchandise (i.e. sausage, oven ready products, and cured meats).
• Checks product to make sure it meets WFM quality standards.
• Maintains sampling program.
• Monitors and assists in preventing spoilage.
• Mentors and supports Meat Cutter Trainee(s).
• Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques.
• Maximizes sales potential through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.
• Follows health and sanitation procedures and safety practices.
• Maintains a clean and sanitary working environment and equipment.
• Performs opening, mid, and closing duties; ensures accuracy of signs and pricing.
• Reports safety hazards and violations promptly.
