Job summary

Bashas Meat Department in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Meat Cutter to perform day-to-day operations in our Meat and Seafood departments, ensuring food safety and sanitation while stocking, producing, and merchandising with outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities include cutting, weighing, wrapping, labeling, and preparing ready-to-go meat products; using knives, saws, wrapping machines, and other equipment safely; maintaining clean, well-stocked counters; and assisting customers with product

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age; 21 years of age for positions serving alcohol.
• Experience in meat department or retail food handling is a plus.
• Ability to safely operate knives and meat department equipment.

Responsibilities

• Ordering, cutting, grinding, slicing, weighing, wrapping and labeling according to quality, quantity and food safety standards.
• Control product shrink and inventory expenses through proper handling and wrapping techniques.
• Sell products by providing customers with helpful product information.
• Use meat department tools and equipment safely, including knives and saws.
• Ensure correct pricing, signage and product placement.
• Keep meat counter and work areas clean, stocked and well organized.
• Assist with the preparation of ready‑to‑go meat products.
• Slice, weigh and merchandise prepared deli meats and cheeses.
• Display goods following deli and merchandising guidelines.
• Take customer orders and ensure timely completion to satisfaction.
• Safety-sensitive position; perform other related duties as assigned.
