Job description

Our Meat Cutters ensure that our guests receive the best and most delicious products, presented according to their requirements. In addition to providing exceptional guest service and supporting the Meat Lead, you'll ensure that our offerings promote guest loyalty, growth, and success for the store. As a member of our Meat Team, your primary responsibility will be to cut meat and other products for sale, ensuring our customers receive the freshest products possible. You will create and maintain an exemplary customer service atmosphere to build lifelong relationships by understanding and exceeding customer needs.

Job Description
  • Experience Required: Satisfactory completion of job-specific skills assessment; 6 to 12 months experience or successful completion of the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program
  • Experience Desired: Prior meat cutting experience
  • Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification or Licensing Required: Meat cutting certification
  • Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
Job Responsibilities
  • Cut meat to be sold to customers by removing the product from the cooler and cutting it into smaller sizes for packaging and sale.
  • Service guests by answering questions and filling special orders.
  • Rotate and check code dates on products to ensure customer safety.
  • Wrap and maintain the meat case.
  • Provide products and services that meet internal and external customer requirements, adhering to the Company's Guiding Principles, Common Purposes, and Service Credo.
  • Prioritize safety in all work aspects for team members, guests, and products.
  • Familiarize yourself with store products to answer questions and make suggestions to customers.
  • Apply knowledge of code dating.
  • Cultivate a foodie culture by sharing enthusiasm and passion for food with team members and guests.
  • Greet customers warmly and friendly, whether in your department or elsewhere in the store.
  • Make ground meat by grinding coarse ground meat and tray it.
  • Inspire colleagues and guests with a passion for food and a commitment to providing the best products.
  • Handle products and equipment properly, following food safety and safety guidelines to ensure a safe shopping environment.
  • Provide sampling opportunities when appropriate.
  • Unload deliveries and check in trucks.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment, tools, and work areas to meet safety and sanitation standards.
  • Accurately record and assist with special order preparations to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in maintaining the efficiency of the meat cooler and freezer by unloading deliveries.
  • Follow procedures to help the store meet out-of-stock percentage goals.
