Job Summary
An Assistant Meat Team Leader's primary responsibility is to support the Meat Manager in leading the Meat Department. This includes directing and managing Team Members, ordering raw materials and supplies, and implementing merchandising strategies to grow the business, meet customer needs, and maximize profits.
Job Description
- Experience Required: 3 to 5 years
- Experience Desired: Prior management experience in Meat operations or related fields; Customer Service Experience; Knowledge of Market District meat operational procedures; Ability to read and interpret Profit and Loss statements
- Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification or Licensing Required: Meat cutting certification
- Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
- Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age
Job Responsibilities
- Assist the Meat Manager in managing the Meat Department by writing orders, assigning tasks, and maintaining departmental conditions.
- Provide customers with various cuts of meat and ensure sales cases are filled by assisting in meat cutting.
- Maintain product levels in sales cases by inspecting and preparing products.
- Ensure proper procedures are followed to meet out-of-stock percentage goals.
- Promote the development of Team Members and identify candidates for Management Development.
- Understand and adhere to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Unloading and checking in orders.
- Stocking frozen foods and lunch meats, unloading deliveries into coolers and freezers.
- Maintain cold-chain integrity.
- Model, understand, and promote safety procedures according to Health Department, HACCP, OSHA, and company policies to ensure safety for all.
- Share food knowledge and promote continuous learning among team members and customers.
- Use suggestive selling techniques effectively.
- Conduct all business interactions with integrity, focusing on delivering exceptional customer service.
- Foster an environment that embraces diversity, inclusion, and respect for Team Members, Customers, Vendors, and the Community.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, utensils, and work areas to ensure safety and compliance.
