Job description

Description

Measure Technician
Field-Based | Local and Regional Travel
Turn customer ideas into precise, production-ready plans. Cutting Edge Countertops is looking for a detail-oriented Measure Technician to serve as the vital link between our customers, job sites, and in-house CAD team. In this field-based role, you will visit residential and commercial projects, use digital measuring technology to capture accurate dimensions, identify conditions that could affect fabrication or installation, and ensure every detail is ready before production begins.
What You’ll Do
  • Meet with customers, contractors, and other on-site contacts to confirm project scope, design intent, and final specifications.
  • Use laser measuring equipment and a tablet to capture precise dimensions for cabinets, walls, openings, overhangs, and other critical conditions.
  • Review project details, identify discrepancies or installation risks, and resolve questions before the project is released for production.
  • Document measurements, site conditions, photos, notes, and customer decisions clearly and completely.
  • Communicate confirmed dimensions and design requirements to the in-house CAD team so drawings can be completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Explain site-readiness requirements and customer responsibilities before installation.
  • Manage a daily route and appointment schedule while maintaining high standards for quality, efficiency, and customer service.
  • Safely operate a company vehicle and properly maintain company-issued tools, technology, and equipment.
  • Contribute ideas that improve safety, quality, workflow, and the customer experience.
What We’re Looking For
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One to three years of experience in cabinetry, countertops, construction, kitchen and bath remodeling, field measurement, or a related trade is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of basic geometry and the ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and project specifications.
  • Comfort using laser measuring equipment, tablets, digital forms, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Customer service or consultative sales experience is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Ability to work independently, adjust to changing priorities, and communicate effectively with customers and internal teams.
What Will Help You Succeed

You will thrive in this role if you are technically accurate, highly organized, comfortable solving problems in real time, and committed to creating a professional customer experience. Success requires balancing productivity with quality, exercising sound judgment, and collaborating effectively with customers, account managers, CAD designers, production teams, and installers.

Work Environment and Travel

This position works primarily at active residential and commercial construction or remodeling sites. Conditions may include dust, noise, uneven surfaces, variable temperatures, and interaction with customers, contractors, and other trades. Up to 95% local or regional travel may be required. The Measure Technician will leave from and return home each day; overnight travel is not expected.

Physical Requirements

The role requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, crouching, and kneeling; occasional lifting and carrying of up to 40 pounds without assistance; safe navigation of stairs, uneven surfaces, and active work areas; and regular use of measuring tools and mobile technology.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay: $24 - $30 per hour based on relevant experience, technical skills and industry knowledge
  • Benefits: A comprehensive benefit offering, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; 401(k) with company match; paid holidays; paid sick days; and PTO.
  • Company vehicle provided for business travel.
