Job summary

Community First Solutions is seeking a Kitchen Supervisor to maintain safe, nutritious Meals on Wheels and Congregate meals. You will supervise kitchen staff, ensure health and sanitation standards, and work with the Executive Chef and General Manager to coordinate production and deliveries.

The role requires ServSafe certification, two years in food service, the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, and a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, monitor, and comply with regulations for Meals on Wheels and congregate meal programs.
  • Train kitchen personnel and volunteers on health, sanitation, nutrition, and customer service guidelines.
  • Coordinate food production, cleaning, and sanitation tasks with the General Manager and Executive Chef.
  • Research, develop, and evaluate nutritional menus for MOW and Congregate programs.
  • Plan meal production to ensure timely completion and proper packaging for serving.

Job description

Overview

Maintain inventory and supplies necessary to prepare and provide nutritious meals to Meals on Wheels clients. Ensure safe and sanitary conditions are maintained to continue operating as regulated by the Health Department and comply with regulations provided by Southwestern Ohio Council on Aging (COA). This position operates within specific guidelines and refers questionable areas to their supervisor. To provide safe and nutritious meals for Community First’s Meals on Wheels Program and our sites participating in our Congregate Meal Program.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for understanding, monitoring, and complying with all regulations and policies pertaining to the administration of Meals on Wheels (MOW) and congregate meal programs as provided by Council on Aging (COA), Ohio Department of Health (ODH), and any other governing body.
  • Ensure kitchen personnel and volunteers are trained and knowledgeable in applicable aspects of the regulations including but not limited to health, sanitation, nutrition, and customer service guidelines and policies.
  • Work with the General Manager and Executive Chef to coordinate and assign food production, clean-up, and sanitation tasks within the kitchen department.
  • Work with the Registered Dietician (RD) and/or Dietary Technician to research, develop, and evaluate on-going nutritional menus for MOW and Congregate programs.
  • Coordinate and monitor meal production and food preparation to ensure timely completion.
  • Monitor and ensure packaging and meal serving techniques are completed in a timely basis and in compliance with all health and safety policies.
  • Work with Executive Chef and General Manager to maintain appropriate food inventory and supplies as required and as requested.
  • Receive and confirm all MOW deliveries are accurate.
  • Evaluate on going needs of MOW operations (meal delivery, preparation and distribution) and provide input for improvement, correction, production, or development to the General Manager for consideration.
  • Assist in general food preparation / culinary operations as needed.
  • Drive and deliver meals to clients in emergency situations or during the absence of personnel.
  • Participate in promoting and maintaining a safe and positive work environment.
  • All other duties as assigned and/or appropriate to the position.
Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or equivalent

Licenses or other required certifications: Must complete ServSafe classes and become certified. Sanitation course completion preferred. Valid driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance and maintain a good driving record to meet standards of our insurance provider is preferred.

Experience: Requires two years related experience in food service, production, or delivery

Specialized knowledge, skills, or abilities: Must be able to read and understand general cooking terms, policies and health regulations, and have a good working knowledge of large-scale food production environments. Must be able to routinely lift and maneuver up to 40 pounds (i.e.: 1 case of canned vegetables). Must have the ability to relate to needs of an older population and the ability to work a flexible schedule. Comfortable working with computers and common MS Office software to check email, calendars, and scheduling software. Attend company and other conferences, seminars and training classes as directed by your supervisor. Commit to company values. Must have strong customer service, communication, interpersonal skills, and be a team player.
