Job summary

Mt. Hood Meadows is seeking a Freeride Team Head Coach to lead athlete and coach development and help build a progressive freeride program. You will supervise staff, plan training, and ensure clear communication with families in a dynamic mountain environment.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and a commitment to growing confident riders and skiers through structured coaching and cross-department collaboration.

Qualifications

  • 18+ years of age or older
  • Experience with ski/snowboard school operations or club sports teams
  • Ability to supervise large groups in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong communications and guest services skills
  • Able to work outdoors in all conditions with a positive attitude
  • Must be able to read/write emails professionally and timely
  • Must provide own equipment (skis/snowboard, boots, etc.)
  • Must be able to ski/snowboard safely on blue terrain at Mt. Hood Meadows
  • Must be able to work weekends/holidays December through early April
  • Background check required to work with minors

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of Freeride athletes and coaches

Position Overview

Help shape the next generation of freeride athletes at Mt. Hood Meadows. As the Freeride Team Head Coach, you’ll lead the development of our athletes and coaches while helping build a program that challenges young skiers and riders to grow their skills, confidence, and passion for the mountain.

This hands-on leadership role combines coaching, program development, and team supervision. You’ll select and support coaches, coordinate daily assignments, develop age-appropriate training, track athlete progress, and maintain strong communication with athletes and their families. You’ll also work closely with the Meadows Learning Center, Terrain Parks, and other departments to create a safe, progressive, and engaging freeride experience.

This is a full-time, seasonal position

Qualifications& Experience

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Familiarity with ski and snowboard school and/orclub sports team operations
  • Ability to work in afast-pacedsetting while supervising large groups
  • Strong communications and guest services skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work outdoors in all conditions whilemaintaininga positive attitude
  • Must have sufficient sight, speech and hearing abilities to learn skills,followand provide directions and instruction to guests
  • Ability to read and reply to email communications in a professional andtimelymanner
  • Must provide own equipment (e.g.skis, snowboard, ski/snowboard boots, ski poles, gloves, goggles, thermal layers, etc.)
  • Minimum ability to ski and/or snowboard safely, comfortably linking round turns on intermediate (blue) groomed terrain at Mt. Hood Meadows
  • Ability to work weekends and school holidays fromapproximately December 1throughearly April
  • Submittoa background check to work with minors

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Current PSIA-AASI Level II Certification or higher
  • PSIA-AASI Freestyle Specialist 1 (FS1) accreditation, FS2 preferred
  • PSIA-AASI Children's Specialist 1 (CS1) accreditation, CS2 preferred
  • Current USSA and/or USASA Coaches and/or Athlete Membership
  • Competitive background in freeride competition preferred
  • Previousleadership experience preferred

Compensation:

  • Starting Wage: $22.70 - $25.73 per hour
