Job summary

Zentro Internet in Chicago is looking for a Field Ops Technician to join our construction/installation team. You will work outdoors on building sites, installing and wiring network infrastructure and wireless links.

Ideal candidates have a valid driver’s license, experience with low-voltage wiring, CAT5/6 terminations, and the ability to lift heavy equipment. This is a hands-on role with on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Own and operate an SUV or Truck and be able to transport 500lbs of equipment.
• At least one year experience in a low voltage wiring position.
• Experience in specialized technical courses or equivalent work experience a plus.
• Able to lift heavy and large objects, climb ladders, and work on tall buildings.
• Fiber Splicing (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and troubleshoot CAT6 cables on patch panels and RJ-45 plugs.
• Route cabling through risers, creating pathways from MDF to IDF to rooftops.
• Install roof mounts and wireless radios; calibrate links between buildings.
• Install server racks and organize cabling in MDF/IDF closets.
• Be on-call one week per month for emergencies.
• Troubleshoot network outages and service-impacting issues.
• Document work, materials, and site conditions.
• Install network switches and routers.
