Responsibilities
  1. Participate in the admission process of prospective residents, assessing their nursing needs and appropriate placement.
  2. Determine potential Resource Utilization Groups (RUGs) and associated expenses for potential admissions.
  3. Review all admission applications, conduct on-site or phone assessments, and communicate assessment results to the Admissions Coordinator.
  4. Ensure accuracy in the MDS process for all residents.
  5. Maintain current knowledge of Medicare criteria, serve as a resource for nursing staff, and communicate regulatory changes.
  6. Monitor Case Mix Index (CMI) scores for potential risks or changes affecting Medicaid reimbursement.
  7. Facilitate problem-solving for complex admissions.
  8. Oversee Medicare assessment schedules and nursing documentation for accuracy and timely submission.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience as an MDS coordinator or related role.
  • Current and valid state nursing license.
  • Experience in clinical and healthcare settings.
  • Deep knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong mathematical skills for analysis and sampling.
  • Excellent leadership qualities.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations.
  • Decisive decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in MDS 3.0.
