Job summary

Connor Co. in McHenry, IL is seeking a Delivery Driver/Warehouse team member for a long-term position with a historic company.

You will inspect and prep trucks, load and unload product, deliver to destinations, verify packing slips, and assist with general warehouse duties.

Responsibilities

• Prepares truck for operation by inspecting general condition, checking fluids and tires.
• Maintains truck efficiency by following maintenance schedules and reporting needs.
• Loads delivery truck with product securely to prevent damage.
• Delivers items by planning routes, operating the truck, unloading, and meeting schedule.
• Uses a cell phone to report progress of deliveries.
• Picks up return items and verifies deliveries against packing slips.
• Addresses customer questions and resolves issues or forwards as needed.
• Maintains company reputation by taking initiative on new tasks.
• Performs efficient loading/unloading and inspects materials for damage.
• Processes inbound materials to the warehouse and reconciles with packing slips.
• Sorts items in designated warehouse locations and keeps areas organized.
• Ensures safe storage and disposal of packing materials and scrap.
• Maintains a clean, safe warehouse environment and adheres to procedures.

Connor Co., a company rich in history, currently has an available Delivery Driver/Warehouse position in McHenry, IL. We seek a career-minded person looking for a long-term position with a great company.

• Pass a pre-employment background check and drug testing.


• Be available to work from 6:00 am until 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Principal Accountabilities:

Prepares truck for operation by inspecting general condition: check fluid levels and tire pressure; notify the Branch Manager before obtaining or scheduling required repairs.

Maintains truck operating efficiency by completing preventative maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and scheduling repairs

Loads delivery truck with product securely, avoiding damage

Delivers items by identifying destinations, establishing a route, operating the truck, unloading items, and maintaining a schedule

Uses a cell phone to report on the progress of deliveries

Picks up return items for the company

Verifies products delivered against the packing slip and has the customer sign the receipt.

Serves customers by understanding and resolving or forwarding complaints

Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests

Efficient and effective loading and unloading of trucks.

Inspects materials according to instructions and reports damaged goods.

Process inbound materials to the warehouse. Compare quantities shown on the packing slip or manifests with the actual items received.

Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to sequence, such as size, type, style, color, or product code.

Ensures materials are placed in the designated area within the warehouse.

Stacks skids or pallets in the designated area. Cleans up and disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping, and places them in a proper container or designated area.

Maintains a safe and clean work environment by keeping racks, shelves, pallet area, workstations, and counter area neat; maintaining a clean shipping supply area; complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

General housekeeping: sweeping, mopping, dusting, and emptying trash.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

High School Diploma or its equivalent

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (Illinois Class C license)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:

Critical thinker, using logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions

Mathematical reasoning- ability to choose the right method or formulas to solve a problem

Ability to learn Eclipse software

Must be very detail-oriented and focused on accuracy

Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision and under tight deadlines

Must have strong interpersonal communication skills

Must maintain a patient and professional attitude while managing a busy workload

Strong organizational skills are required

Must be able to determine and prioritize workload

Working Conditions:

Normal warehouse environment

Exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.

Physical strength to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
