Job summary

Connor Co. in Kankakee, IL is seeking a delivery driver/warehouse associate to support daily operations and customer service. You will inspect trucks, load and unload goods, and ensure timely deliveries while maintaining routes and schedules.

This role requires a valid Class C driver’s license and a high school diploma. Prior warehouse or delivery experience is preferred, with strong organizational and communication skills emphasized. Connor Co.

Qualifications

• 1 year: Warehouse experience.
• 1 year: Delivery Driver experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares truck for operation by inspecting general condition; notify Branch Manager before repairs.
• Maintains truck operating efficiency by completing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Loads delivery truck with product securely to avoid damages.
• Delivers items by identifying destinations, establishing routes, operating the truck, unloading, and maintaining schedule.
• Verifies products delivered against packing slips and has customers sign receipts.
• Assists customers at the counter and resolves questions or forwards complaints as needed.
• Process inbound materials and compare packing slips with actual items received.
• Efficient loading/unloading of trucks; inspect items and report damaged goods.
• Ensure materials are placed in designated warehouse areas; keep spaces clean and organized.

Description

Principal Accountabilities:

Prepares truck for operation by inspecting general condition: check fluid levels and tire pressure: notify Branch Manager before obtaining or scheduling required repairs

Maintains truck operating efficiency by completing preventative maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; scheduling repairs

Loads delivery truck with product securely-avoid damages

Delivers items by identifying destinations; establishing route; operating the truck; unloading items; maintaining schedule

Uses cell phone to report on the progress of deliveries

Picks up returns items for the company

Verifies products delivered against packing slip and has customer sign receipt

Serves customers by understanding and resolving or forwarding complaints

Enhances organization's reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests

Process inbound materials to the warehouse. Compares quantities shown on packing slips or manifests with actual items received

Efficient and effective loading and unloading of trucks

Inspects items according to instructions and reports damaged goods

Ensures materials are placed in the designated area within the warehouse

Stacks skids or pallets in designated areas. Cleans up and disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping and putting in the proper container or designated area

Assist customers at the counter

Perform other duties as requested

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

High School Diploma or its equivalent

Valid driver’s license (Class C required) and clean driving record

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:

Critical thinker-using logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions

Mathematical reasoning- the ability to choose the suitable method or formulas to solve the problem

Ability to learn Eclipse software

Must be very detail-oriented and focused for accuracy

Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision and under tight deadlines

Must have strong interpersonal communication skills

Must maintain a patient and professional attitude while managing a busy workload

Strong organizational skills required

Must be able to determine and prioritize workload

Ability to read directions and use a street map to plot delivery route
