Job summary

Mill Creek Middle School in Comstock Park, MI is seeking a part-time Non-Instructional Aide to help maintain a positive, safe environment for students throughout the building. You will monitor areas, enforce conduct codes, and support office and bus/recess duties.

The role requires a high school diploma, the ability to work with students and staff, and the stamina to handle physical tasks. This is a role inside the school day with responsibilities aligned to district policies.

Qualifications

Job Description

Comstock Park is seeking candidates who display a strong desire and ability to make an impact on students and the greater community both within and outside of the classroom.

SUMMARY:

This person must monitor students to insure a positive safe environment in various areas of the building. This person is responsible for enforcing code of conduct polices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor students in assigned areas; i.e. cafeteria, hallways, classrooms, etc.
  • Building sweep and perimeter check.
  • Assist with office duties.
  • Bus duty and / or Recess duty.
  • Enforces the student code of conduct and reports violations to the administration.
  • Provides a safe and orderly environment implementing building policies and procedures
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and related software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to problem solve and reason with students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:High School diploma.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students and staff.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to push items of 50 lbs. such as moving/rearranging furniture. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally work inside and must be able to work outside for parking lot and bus loading/unloading. The employee must be able to work with the public and other workers. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate to loud. This person will wear clothing in accordance with building policy.

    COMPENSATION: In accordance with the master agreement between Comstock Park Educational Employees Association and the Comstock Park Board of Education.

The final candidate for this position will be required (at their cost) to furnish the district with a current Michigan State Police and FBI criminal records LiveScan check prior to our recommendation to hire.
