Job summary

Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is seeking Systems Engineers with MBSE experience to contribute across the full lifecycle—from concept to sustainment. You will apply MBSE methods to define architectures, develop system models with Cameo/MagicDraw/Rhapsody/Capella, and translate stakeholder needs into formal models.

Ideal candidates have hands-on MBSE experience, familiarity with SysML and model-based analysis, and the ability to collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with MBSE frameworks (SysML, DoDAF, UAF, or similar).
• MBSE toolset (Cameo, Rhapsody, Capella).
• Systems engineering fundamentals: requirements, architecture, integration, verification/validation.

Responsibilities

• Apply MBSE methods and SysML-based modeling to define system architectures.
• Develop and maintain system models using MBSE tools.
• Translate stakeholder needs into formal models and verification artifacts.
• Maintain traceability across design and test activities.
• Support technical reviews, trade studies, and risk assessments with model-based artifacts.
• Collaborate with subject‑matter experts to integrate MBSE into engineering processes.
• Prepare architecture views and related technical documentation.
• Engage with engineering teams, sponsors, and stakeholders.
