Job summary

Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory in State College, PA seeks Systems Engineers with MBSE expertise to work on undersea system models and architectures. You will apply SysML-based modeling, translate needs into formal models, and maintain traceability from requirements through tests throughout the lifecycle.

Responsibilities include developing and maintaining system models with Cameo, Rhapsody, Capella, or EA, supporting reviews and trade studies, and collaborating with Systems

Qualifications

  • Hands-on MBSE with SysML, DoDAF, or UAF, across architectures and requirements.
  • Experience using Cameo, Rhapsody, Capella, or Enterprise Architect.
  • Strong systems engineering fundamentals: requirements, architecture, integration, verification.
  • Ability to maintain traceability from requirements to tests and design artifacts.
  • Experience leading technical teams and collaborating across disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Apply MBSE methods to define and analyze system architectures.
  • Develop and maintain system models across lifecycle stages.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into formal models and verification artifacts.
  • Support reviews, trade studies, and risk assessments with model-based artifacts.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on undersea system architectures and transitioned designs.
  • Present architecture views and behavioral models to sponsors and stakeholders.
