Job summary

Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the Undersea Systems Office. The role centers on traditional systems engineering for defense hardware, spanning concept development, architecture, subsystem integration, testing, and transitioning to fielded systems.

You will contribute to physical system development with MBSE and hardware/software integration, collaborating with Navy sponsors and program management.

Qualifications

• Applying systems engineering to complex physical systems, preferably in defense, aerospace, maritime, or robotics domains.
• Experience writing white papers or reports.
• Past success leading or coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Translate stakeholder needs into system-level requirements and architectures.
• Perform analysis of alternatives and develop system concepts for hardware-centric undersea platforms and payloads.
• Develop verification and validation strategies, test plans, and procedures for physical prototypes and fielded systems.
• Support MBSE, system modeling, and hardware/software integration in projects.
