Job summary

General Atomics is seeking a Systems Engineer to define requirements and perform analyses for cutting-edge missile, projectile, and hypersonic programs. You will use MBSE practices with tools like Cameo/MagicDraw, DOORS, Jama and CORE, mentoring junior staff and interfacing with customers on shaping and requirements derivation.

You will work on multiple programs, support design reviews, and contribute to proposals, with flexibility for travel and extended hours to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in engineering or related field with progressive experience.
• Broad understanding of engineering concepts for aerospace systems.
• Strong communication, presentation and collaboration skills.
• Customer-focused with initiative and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Knowledge of missiles, projectiles, hypersonic vehicles, lasers, or satellites.
• Experience with MBSE methods and related tools.
• Familiarity with DOORS, Jama, CORE, and SysML tools.
• Mentor others and contribute to proposals and RFIs.

Responsibilities

• Define/derive system and subsystem requirements and performance predictions.
• Lead trade studies and engineering analyses for projects.
• Use MATLAB, Python, and DoF simulations to set budgets (accuracy, latency, power).
• Interface with customers during shaping, ConOps, and requirements derivation.
• Develop system engineering documents and contract deliverables.
• Present at design reviews and perform verification activities.
• Provide mentorship to less experienced staff.
• Travel as needed to support programs.
