Job summary

North Carolina State University is seeking an Accountant in Raleigh to serve as a financial steward for the Department of Molecular Biomedical Sciences. You will manage funds across state appropriations, discretionary funds, grants, gifts, and service centers in partnership with the CVM Business Office.

The role requires GAAP knowledge, strong Excel skills, and experience with university financial systems to ensure accurate reporting and timely financial operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 12 accounting credits, or an Associate degree with 12 accounting credits, or an equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of accounting and budgetary principles, including GAAP.
• Experience with university financial systems and Excel; proficient in Google Workspace.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile accounts and prepare annual financial reports for faculty.
• Oversee journal vouchers, year-end closeouts, and payroll distributions.
• Review requisitions and vendor payments to ensure policy compliance.
• Monitor grant expenditures and assist with grant closeouts.
• Guide travel authorizations and reimbursements.
