The University of Portland seeks Mathematics student graders to support faculty by grading homework papers, recording scores, and reporting results. Graders are assigned to a course and work with instructors to determine a rubric, using a solution key and Moodle or paper submissions.
This position requires punctuality, a solid math background, and a GPA of 3.5+. Hours are limited weekly, with 2.25 hours per 3-credit course or 3 hours per 4-credit course, with postings through September 30, 2026.

Job Summary
Mathematics student graders support faculty teaching by grading homework papers and recording homework scores. Graders will be assigned to a particular course, working with individual instructors; they will meet regularly with faculty to determine a grading rubric. They will use a solution key to correct assignments and report scores to faculty. Grading will take either online via Moodle or via paper assignments or both. Graders will also keep a confidential record of homework scores throughout the semester. Graders will grade assignments promptly on a schedule determined by the faculty. Weekly hours are not to exceed 45 minutes hour per credit hour for each graded course (i.e., 2 hours for grading for a 3-credit course, 3 hours of grading for a 4-credit course).
Cover letter requirements for applying: the cover letter should include a list of courses for which the student intends to grade, including grades earned in those courses and name of endorsing faculty for the course. The cover letter should also include whether the grader would prefer to grade for multiple courses, and the preferred number of hours for grading.
