Math Tutor (Grades 9-12) *Grant Funded position

Position Summary

The Math Tutor provides individual and small-group academic support to students in Grades 912 to strengthen mathematical understanding, build confidence, and improve achievement. The tutor will collaborate with mathematics teachers and use Illustrative Mathematics (IM) resources to reinforce grade-level instruction and address individual student needs.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group mathematics tutoring.
• Support students with conceptual understanding, problem solving, mathematical reasoning, and procedural fluency.
• Utilize Illustrative Mathematics (IM) lessons, tasks, and resources to reinforce classroom instruction.
• Collaborate with math teachers to identify student needs and align tutoring with current coursework.
• Use questioning, modeling, discussion, and other strategies that promote mathematical thinking.
• Monitor student participation and progress and communicate with teachers regarding student needs.
• Build positive relationships with students and promote confidence, perseverance, and independence.
• Maintain appropriate documentation and student confidentiality.
