Job summary

Equitas Academy is seeking passionate middle and high school math teachers to join six campuses in Los Angeles. You will lead rigorous instruction, implement a standards-aligned Illustrative Mathematics curriculum, and collaborate with families to support student progress.

You will participate in weekly PD, attend IEP/504/ SST meetings, and contribute to a warm, restorative classroom culture that values equity and high expectations for all scholars.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• Current Single Subject Math or Multiple Subject teaching credential (internship, preliminary, or clear) or out-of-state equivalent
• English Learner authorization required
• Belief that all students can succeed
• Experience with students in low-income communities preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead rigorous instruction in math using the Illustrative Mathematics curriculum
• Deliver instruction based on our rigorous and aligned curriculum
• Communicate with families regarding student behavior and academic progress
• Maintain high academic and behavioral expectations
• Demonstrate a warm demander style with scholars
• Use culturally responsive and restorative practices
• Begin day by 7:30am (middle school) or 8:10am (high school) with a team huddle; end at 3:30pm (middle) or 4:10pm (high)
• Daily prep time and duty-free lunch
• Weekly grade level team meetings
• Regular one-on-one meetings with your coach or supervisor
• Facilitate portions of Community Meeting weekly
• Attend IEP, SST, and 504 meetings
• Active participation in weekly professional development
• Perform other duties to support students and school community
