Job summary

Rockford Public Schools seeks a Math Teacher/Interventionist at Covenant High School Grand Rapids (High-Needs School) to guide students through the high school Mathematics curriculum and provide targeted intervention. You will report to the Principal and join a team focused on equity and student achievement.

The role combines classroom instruction with targeted tutoring, data-informed planning, and ongoing collaboration with colleagues to meet diverse student needs.

Qualifications

  • MI Teaching Certificate or Mathematics teaching permit.
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics or related field.
  • Michigan teaching certification preferred.
  • Satisfactory criminal history check.

Responsibilities

  • Develop lessons for the high school mathematics curriculum.
  • Deliver high quality instruction in high school mathematics.
  • Provide academic support to students individually and in small groups.
  • Review and grade student activities and assessments.
  • Implement school curriculum per district standards.
  • Maintain weekly engagements with in-person and virtual students.
  • Create a safe and orderly classroom conducive to learning.
  • Monitor student progress through curriculum checks and discussions.
  • Meet with students regularly to discuss goals and progress.
  • Participate in subject-area Professional Learning Community.
  • Follow directives from the Principal.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in math.
  • Assess instructional needs and design tutoring schedules.
  • Administer math tests to diagnose needs.

Position: Math Teacher/Interventionist Reports to: Principal

Salary Range: $54,000 - $70,000

General Description: Provide instruction and support to guide students through the high school Mathematics curriculum.

Primary Responsibilities – Math Teacher
  • Develop lessons related to the high school mathematics curriculum
  • Deliver high-quality instruction related to the high school mathematics curriculum
  • Provide academic support to students individually and in small groups
  • Review and grade student activities, assignments and assessments
  • Implement school curriculum in accord with district standards and requirements
  • Maintain and record weekly engagements with both in-person and virtual students
  • Maintain a classroom environment that is safe, well-ordered and conducive to student learning
  • Check student progress and understanding frequently through curriculum monitoring, group discussions/activities, and 1-1 conversations

  • Actively participate in subject-area Professional Learning Community
  • Follow additional directives and assignments given by the Principal

  • Meet with students regularly to discuss their goals, needs and academic progress.
  • Maintain and submit required documentation, including, but not limited to, coaching logs and student performance data.
  • Work in a professional and cooperative manner with others to achieve duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintain and record weekly engagements with both in-person and virtual students.
