MATH TEACHER
Applications are now being accepted for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Secondary Education Mathematics Teacher at Logan High School for the 2026-2027 school year. Applicants must hold a valid Utah Secondary Educator License and proper endorsement.
Job Summary
The Secondary Education Mathematics Teacher at Logan High School is responsible for providing engaging and effective mathematics instruction to students in grades 9–12. This position includes planning and delivering standards-based lessons, assessing student learning, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and collaborating with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student achievement and academic growth. The teacher will foster critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a positive learning experience while supporting the mission and goals of Logan City School District.
Essential Functions
- Adapts classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans, accommodations, and modifications within established lesson plans.
- Administers developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, and progress monitoring tools for the purpose of assessing student competency levels, evaluating student growth, and developing individual learning plans, including support for students with IEPs and Section 504 Plans.
- Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student achievements; developing methods for improvement; reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment; and discussing accommodations or interventions for students receiving special education or Section 504 services.
- Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, administration, and support teams, including documentation related to IEP and Section 504 goals and accommodations.
- Collaborates with instructional staff, special education teachers, counselors, administrators, parents, and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes and achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
- Counsels students for the purpose of improving performance, building self-confidence, and supporting academic and behavioral success in the classroom environment.
- Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual student requirements, differentiated instruction needs, and accommodations outlined in IEPs and Section 504 Plans.
- Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students, including students requiring specialized instructional support.
- Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academic and interpersonal skills through a defined course of study using evidence-based instructional practices and differentiated strategies to support diverse learners.
- Implements accommodations, modifications, and instructional supports for students with IEPs and Section 504 Plans in collaboration with special education staff and related service providers.
- Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe, inclusive, and optimal learning environment that supports the academic and social-emotional needs of all students.
- Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, field trips) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment and ensuring appropriate implementation of student accommodations and supports.
- Participates in a variety of meetings, including faculty meetings, professional development activities, IEP meetings, Section 504 meetings, and collaborative planning sessions for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, progress reports, accommodation documentation, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.
- Reports incidents, as needed, for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment, and adhering to Education Code, district procedures, and school policies.
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers, parents, administrators, counselors, and support staff) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information, and/or directing individuals to appropriate resources and services.
- Supports classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of established curriculum, instructional interventions, and individual student plans.
