Job summary

Great Hearts Arlington Lower School is seeking a Math Interventionist for grades K-5 to provide targeted instructional support and close achievement gaps in mathematics. The role emphasizes data-driven planning, collaboration with classroom teachers, and ongoing progress monitoring.

The candidate will use varied instructional strategies, manage records, and communicate progress to families while maintaining compliance with district policies and school procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in math or related field.
  • Texas teaching certification in Math strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience with K-5 math intervention.

Responsibilities

Job Title: Math Interventionist (K-5) Location: Great Hearts Arlington Lower School (6701 S Cooper St. Arlington, TX 76001)

Reports to: Headmaster

FLSA STATUS: Salaried-Exempt, Full-time

The Mathematics Interventionist

Provides direct instruction to students identified as eligible for math services in 1:1 and/or small group settings. Develops a student-centered system of intervention that effectively works to close the achievement gap in mathematics. Ensures that students master grade level standards and curriculum Creates a classroom environment and research-based program of study that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Demonstrates knowledge of scientifically based mathematics instruction. Uses a variety of manipulatives and hands-on activities to support content standards and meet the needs and capabilities of students Effectively analyzes/uses data and conducts student assessments to identify those eligible for intervention services, plan instruction, and assist staff members in learning various assessment techniques. Identifies student needs and data to guide the learning process toward achievement of district’s math content standards. Monitors and assesses student progress on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. Understands how to use technology for instructional planning, i.e. creating reports and using data to plan lessons. Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects using formal and informal assessment data. Communicates and collaborates with classroom teachers to ensure alignment between classroom instruction and interventions. Completes other duties as assigned

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management
  • Utilize student data to help teachers identify and group students who need additional support.
  • Design intervention plans and monitor progress for students who are struggling.
  • Maintain records of student work and progress toward mastery of skills identified in intervention plan.
  • Maintain open and consistent communication about student progress, concerns, and achievement with families and the school community.
  • Consult with teachers to develop appropriate strategies for addressing the needs of students.
  • Serve as a resource for classroom teachers with strategies, plans and materials.
  • Participate in district and campus trainings.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local policy.
Classroom Management and Organization
  • Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Communication
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Knowledge of the Section 504 process
  • Knowledge of best practice strategies
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Ability to communicate effectively and relate positively to parents, students, and staff
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility in high-pressure situations; Ability to handle high-volume, fast-paced workload

Qualifications:
  • Education/Certification Bachelor’s degree in Math, or a related field
  • Valid Texas teaching certification in Math or a related area strongly preferred
  • Experience Three (3) years successful teaching experience and/or experience providing math intervention to K-5 students
Compensation:

Great Hearts offers a very competitive benefits package and overall compensation will be commensurate with talent, experience and education.

Additional Requirements:
  • Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain valid Texas fingerprint clearance card.
  • Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.
  • Travel required: May need to occasionally travel locally to the various academies within the metro area.
  • US work authorization is required.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.
  • Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
